What Computer Do You Need for Revit? A Hardware Guide
Revit requires a powerful processor, at least 16 GB RAM, a supported graphics card, and an SSD. Choosing the right hardware ensures an efficient working experience.
Revit is a resource-intensive BIM software. Running it on inadequate hardware significantly reduces productivity.
Minimum System Requirements (Autodesk 2025)
Autodesk's official minimum requirements: 64-bit Windows 10/11, 2.5 GHz or higher multi-core processor, 8 GB RAM (minimum), 10 GB disk space. However, these values are only sufficient to launch the software; real projects require more.
Recommended Hardware
CPU: Intel Core i7/i9 or AMD Ryzen 7/9 (at least 3.0 GHz). RAM: 16 GB minimum, 32–64 GB for large projects. GPU: NVIDIA Quadro or GeForce RTX series, at least 4 GB VRAM. Storage: SSD (NVMe preferred), 256 GB or larger system drive.
Laptop or Desktop?
Desktop computers have advantages in cooling and upgradability. However, Revit runs comfortably on a workstation laptop equipped with 16 GB RAM and an NVIDIA RTX GPU. If portability is needed, a laptop is a reasonable choice.
Does Revit Run on Mac?
Revit is officially supported only on Windows. Mac users can run Revit by installing Windows via Parallels or Boot Camp, but this does not provide an ideal experience.
