Computer selection is one of the most common practical questions for anyone looking to use SolidCAM. It is not a basic drawing tool — it can work with large assemblies, calculate complex toolpaths, and run CNC simulations. Hardware choices across processor, RAM, graphics card, and storage all matter.

The Most Important Hardware Components

CPU (Processor)

Toolpath calculation, CAM operations, and simulation all draw directly on CPU performance. For training purposes, Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen 5 is sufficient.
